Before you reply
Look for consistency rather than perfection. A profile that is incomplete is not automatically unsafe, and a polished profile is not proof of trust. Pay attention to how the person responds to ordinary questions and whether their story changes.
Before you meet
- Choose a public place with people nearby
- Tell a trusted person the time and location
- Keep your own transportation and return plan
- Avoid sharing a home address for pickup
- Set a check-in time if that helps you feel grounded
Money and account requests
Do not send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency or banking details to someone you met through a dating service. Never share one-time account codes. A personal crisis, travel problem or investment opportunity does not make the request safer.
Respect around HSV
No one should pressure you to disclose more than is relevant to the stage of the relationship. No one should threaten to share your health information. Conversations about intimacy require honest information and consent from both people.
Reporting harmful behavior
Use the blocking and reporting tools provided by the dating service where you meet. Save relevant messages when reporting harassment, impersonation, threats or financial requests. Contact local emergency services when there is immediate danger.
Current health information
Herpes Dating WA does not diagnose or give individual medical advice. Read general information from the CDC and Washington State Department of Health, then discuss personal questions with a qualified clinician.
